The
Maryellen Miller Memorial Scholarship was established in
2010 in honor and loving memory of Maryellen Miller, a friend
and inspiration to so many Holliston residents.
Wife and proud mother of 4 children, Maryellen was passionately
involved in her children's lives and was an avid supporter
of their education within the Holliston public school system.
Maryellen courageously lived with breast cancer between
December 2002 and her death in March 2008. She was one of
the original organizers of the annual Walk Against Breast
Cancer in Holliston which has to-date donated over $400,000
to breast cancer research and patient care at Dana Farber
Cancer Institute.
The scholarship was created by Maryellen's sister, Maryann
Marcoux; the organizers
of the Walk Against Breast Cancer, Kathy Chisholm, Katie
Connors, Denise Cronin,
Jayne Jones, Pam Poor and Dawn Waddell; and Maryellen's
friend, Kathy Cheever.
The mission of the Maryellen Miller Scholarship Foundation
is to fund college scholarships to deserving seniors from
Holliston High School who have given back to their community
through volunteer work and/or assistance to family. Our
hope is to capture the spirit that inspired Maryellen in
founding The Walk Against Breast Cancer, more specifically,
her desire to demonstrate her gratitude to Dana Farber and
her determination to make a difference in the fight against
breast cancer.
The scholarship application process takes place in the Spring
and the recipient is awarded at the Senior Awards Night.
Thank
you for your support!
